First Angel's message on Revelation 14
📖 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. (Revelation 14:6-7)
First angel on Revelation 14 appears in the midst of Heaven with the everlasting gospel to preach to the inhabitants of the earth. His solemn message announces that the hour of God’s judgment has come. This prophecy finds its fulfillment during the Millerite movement of the 19th century. In 1831, William Miller, a farmer from Low Hampton (New York), began a detailed study of biblical prophecies, focusing on chapter 8 on the book of Daniel. Until two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.
Miller discovered that the period of 2,300 days/years, prophesied in Daniel 8, began in the year 457 B.C. (edict of Artaxerxes) and should come to an end in the year 1844 A.D. Despite his zeal for deep study, he mistakenly concluded that the event fulfilling the prophecy was the second coming of Christ. This mistake led to the great disappointment of 1844. Soon after, they discovered that the event prophesied in Daniel 8 is the beginning of the investigative judgment. On October 22, 1844, Jesus passed from the Holy Place into the Most Holy Place of the Heavenly Sanctuary in order to begin the judgment, as announced by the first angel on Revelation 14.
Second Angel's message on Revelation 14
📖 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. (Revelation 14:8)
Second angel on Revelation 14 comes out with a direct statement: Babylon is fallen because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. Babylon symbolizes all the worldly churches that rejected the first angel’s message. The Vatican heads the false Christianity that rejects the correct interpretation of the biblical texts. In fact, Catholicism is the continuation of the pagan Babylonian religion, consisting of Satan worshiping, disguised as Christianity.
The wine symbolizes the false doctrines remaining in both, Catholic & Protestant churches as a result of their union with the world. This union is considered as a spiritual adultery. The main false doctrines, shared by Catholicism and apostate Protestantism, are the immortality of the soul and the sanctification of Sunday, the first day of the week.
Second angel’s message on Revelation 14 finds its fulfillment when William Miller preaches with little help in towns and villages for 9 years. In 1840, Joshua V. Himes helps Miller push his movement through the printing press.
As Miller’s preaching expanded, churches closed their doors to present truth, rejecting God’s message for their time. As a result, moral degradation of the Christian churches increased. They became more united with the world and moved away from God. Between June and August 1844, more than 50,000 sincere believers left their apostate churches and united with Millerites, who were getting ready to meet Christ on His second coming.
Third Angel's message on Revelation 14
📖 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. (Revelation 14:9-12)
The third angel continues the previous message by adding a warning to those who worship the beast and his image, and to those who receive his mark on their forehead or hand. The message ends by presenting a people who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. These are the true people of God.
The beast presented here symbolizes the Roman Catholic Church. The image of the beast is the union of church and state in the United States of America. The mark of the beast is the Sunday, which will be imposed by a Sunday law that will arise in the United States and will later be extended to the rest of the world.
In contrast to all this, there will be a people who will keep the ten commandments, including the fourth precept, the Sabbath, which is the seal of God. They will also have the faith of Jesus, which is the spirit of prophecy.
The fulfillment of this message occurred when October 22, 1844 came and the second coming of Christ did not occur. Those who had waited for Christ suffered a great disappointment. Many thought that the error was in the date and began to propose new future dates for the second coming of the Messiah. However, others analyzed their interpretation of the sanctuary and discovered that the prophecy of Daniel 8:14 referred to the move of Christ from the Holy Place to the Most Holy Place in the Heavenly Sanctuary, beginning the investigative judgment.
Just as there is a Sanctuary in Heaven, there is also a heavenly ark with the tablets of the Ten Commandments, including the Sabbath. When Adventists recognized this, they began to denounce the Roman Catholic Church for having changed the authentic Sabbath day, placing in its place a day of human invention for the worship of God. Sunday was always the day of solar worship, which represents the covert worship of Satan.
The Great Controversy
{ Ellen White }
Right after the Bible, The Great Controversy, written by Ellen White, is the second most important book for a true Christian.
Every man or woman who decides to accept the true faith of Jesus must read this magnificent writing which, inspired by God, details the ins and outs of the big battle for souls between Satan’s minions and faithful followers of Christ during the last 2,000 years of history.
But above all, The Great Controversy narrates in a prophetic way the events that will happend in these last times of history, the great final battle between Satan and Jesus, expanding on the prophecies that prophets, psalmists and evangelists wrote in the Bible about the end times and the so awaited second coming of Christ.
